Organic Sunscreen
Sunscreen is essential for maintaining healthy and youthful skin. The sun's UV rays can damage your skin and accelerate signs of ageing, such as fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation. With LYKKEGAARD Sunscreen, you can protect your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays and maintain healthy skin for years to come.
LYKKEGAARD's sun cream is based on organic ingredients that protect your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. The sun cream range is also certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, which is your guarantee that it is an eco-friendly product that is good for you and the environment. In addition, their sunscreens are also asthma allergy-friendly as they are fragrance-free. With LYKKEGAARD, you can use sunscreen with a clear conscience.
In addition to sun cream, LYKKEGAARD also offers other sun protection products, from a light lotion to a sun oil spray, to suit every skin type and lifestyle. All their sun protection is quickly absorbed into the skin and doesn't leave a sticky or greasy feeling. This means you can enjoy your day without worrying about your skin being exposed to the sun's harmful rays, as all products provide a thin film on top of your skin.
How does sunscreen work?
LYKKEGAARD's sun cream works because when applied to the skin, it helps absorb the harmful rays so they don't come into direct contact with your skin. They use a chemical filter that absorbs the UV rays and converts them into heat. But even though it's called a chemical filter, it's not harmful to your body. They even use a new sun filter called Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine. This is a vegan and organic sunscreen that is effective against both the sun's UVA and UVB rays. If you want to learn more about UV rays, you can read more a little further down the page. In addition to providing good protection, it's also reef-safe, which means it doesn't harm coral reefs or leave harmful residues in the ocean. This makes LYKKEGAARD's waterproof sunscreen especially ideal for summer holidays.
UV Radiation
UV radiation, or ultraviolet radiation to give it its proper name, is invisible radiation emitted by the sun. But even though they are invisible, these rays are essential as they provide vitamin D to our bodies. But as we all know, the sun's UV rays can have a damaging effect on our skin, so it's important that we use sunscreen to protect ourselves from these dangerous rays. The sun has 3 different types of UV rays, UVA, UVB and UVC. Often when talking about sun cream and other sun protection products, you hear about UVA and UVB rays. This is because UVC rays do not reach us as the earth's atmosphere prevents them from reaching us.
UVA rays are most commonly characterised on the body when you experience premature skin ageing. This means more wrinkles appear and the skin can become saggy. Using sunscreen can prevent ageing caused by UVA rays, which is why many people include it in their skincare routine. Sunscreen is an important part of your skincare routine as you are always exposed to these rays, and we always recommend using sunscreen.
UVB rays are the rays that cause damage such as sunburn. UVB protection is especially important if you are outside for long periods of time, especially between 12:00 and 15:00. We therefore always recommend that you apply sunscreen with UVB protection if you spend a lot of time outdoors when the sun is particularly strong.
We know that all this UV radiation stuff can be tricky, which is why they've developed what's called a UV index.
UV index
The UV index is a measurement that indicates how much radiation we are exposed to from the sun. It's a scale, usually ranging from 1 to 11, that helps us understand how strong the sun is and how important it is to protect ourselves from its harmful effects.
The higher the UV index, the higher the risk of sunburn or other skin damage. When the UV index is high, it is recommended to take extra precautions to avoid sun exposure. This can include seeking shade, wearing protective clothing, applying sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF) and avoiding being out in the sun during the most intense hours of the day (12 pm - 3 pm).

Coral friendly sun care products
All LYKKEGAARD sunscreens and sun products are coral-friendly, designed to protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays while you swim. All sun products are certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, Vegan, Reef-Safe and asthma allergy friendly. By buying LYKKEGAARD's sun protection, you take care of both your body and the ocean.
When looking for your summer sun care, it's important to avoid the following ingredients; oxybenzone, octinoxate, homosalate and octocrylene. Several of these chemical sunscreens harm corals by disrupting their growth and damaging their DNA, increasing the vulnerability of the coral reef. That's why LYKKEGAARD uses "Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine" as they do not harm the marine ecosystem. LYKKEGAARD wants to take care of nature's seawater and corals. By using their sun care products, you ensure healthy and natural protection that cares for both your body and nature.
Tanning oil
With LYKKEGAARD's SPF20 sunscreen, you can get healthy and radiant skin while enjoying the sun's warm rays without worry. The sunscreen protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays and penetrates the skin quickly. With a unique combination of natural and organic ingredients such as avocado oil, your skin is protected and cared for, leaving it soft and smooth.
LYKKEGAARD's SPF20 sunscreen is coral-friendly, which means that marine life is spared as the sunscreen does not contain chemicals that are harmful to coral reefs. In addition, it is water-repellent and allergy-certified, fragrance-free and suitable for all skin types.
After sun
It's important to think of aftersun as an essential part of your summer body care routine, as skin protection is not only important before you go out in the sun, but also after you've been in the sun. When exposed to sunlight, skin can become red and burnt and feel dry, hot and irritated. It is therefore important to care for it with moisturising and nourishing products.
LYKKEGAARD's After Sun Cooling Kiss is an organically certified product that contains soothing ingredients such as aloe vera and oat extract. The ingredients help reduce irritation and redness in the skin, which is especially important if you've suffered a sunburn. The moisturising ingredients also help the skin to restore itself and maintain its beautiful tan colour for longer. The skin is left cool, soft and moisturised, giving it the rest it needs to heal.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Factor sunscreen is also known as SPF. SPF helps to indicate the protective effect of the sunscreen. The higher the SPF, the more it protects against the sun's rays so they can't damage the skin.
We recommend using sun cream every day to protect yourself from UVA and UVB rays, even when it's cloudy. This ensures you don't get wrinkles or sunburn from the sun. Here you can use a cream with SPF in it, or choose to use a sunscreen at the end of your skincare routine. But if you know you'll be out in the sun for a long time, we recommend a sun cream with at least SPF 30. It's better to use too much sunscreen than too little, as it can benefit you later in life.
We recommend applying sun cream every two hours to ensure the best protection against the sun's rays. We recommend a generous handful of sun cream applied evenly all over your body. If you're going swimming, we recommend applying a second layer when you get out of the water. This will ensure the best protection against the sun's rays.
We recommend using a handful of sunscreen. With a full handful, you should have enough to apply an even, thin layer that reflects the sun's rays away from your body.
